Headshot Studio NYC — Real Light, Real Operator, Broadway Loft

Natural light from 9-foot Broadway windows. Professional LED rig. Sony FX6 cinema camera. Carlos Montoya on every shoot. No booking portal — call and come in.

The Setup

What a Headshot Studio Should Actually Have

Most headshot studios in NYC are converted conference rooms with a white seamless and a ring light. Union Square Loft is a working production loft at 873 Broadway — 13-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, 9-foot windows facing Broadway, and natural light you can actually use.

The lighting rig covers the full floor: 2 Luxli RGBAW LED panels, 3 Ikan bi-color panels, 3 Colbor COB LEDs, 6 C-stands and booms. Multiple looks available in the same session — architectural natural light, studio strobe-style, warm editorial. Carlos Montoya operates every shoot personally.

Camera: Sony FX6 full-frame cinema camera, the same body used for broadcast-quality narrative and commercial work. Your headshots aren't being taken on a consumer DSLR.

Production Studio Rate (covers headshots): 2 hrs at $350/hr · 4 hrs at $300/hr · 8 hrs at $275/hr · Sony FX6 + Carlos as operator included at standard rate

Actors & Performers

The loft produces clean, professional headshots with the architectural character that reads well on casting platforms. Natural light produces skin tones that hold up across digital submissions without heavy retouch.

A private floor with no distractions. Brand-consistent backgrounds are achievable with the LED rig. Clean, modern headshot looks for LinkedIn, annual reports, press kits.

Brand & Editorial

The room photographs the way a real workspace should look — because it is one. Brand shoots, team headshots, editorial portraits. Hardwood, brick, 13-foot ceilings.

Podcast Hosts & Content Creators

Branded headshots and promotional stills for podcast covers, social profiles, and press pages. Same room you can also record in, if you want a production day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Headshot Studio Questions

Is a makeup artist or stylist available?

Carlos can recommend NYC makeup artists who regularly work in the space — they handle their own bookings. The room has a green room area suitable for hair and makeup prep before the shoot.

What are the backgrounds and looks available?

The 9-foot Broadway windows produce clean natural-light looks. The LED rig can be configured for warm editorial, cool studio, or environmental in-room looks using the hardwood, brick, and architectural elements of the loft. Multiple setups available in the same session.

Can we shoot video BTS or a reel at the same session?

Yes. The Sony FX6 shoots cinema-quality video at the same session if you want behind-the-scenes content, a brief actor reel clip, or a motion piece alongside the stills.
